How Do I Translate Research Articles Into Another Language?

Answer

We strongly discourage against using web-based translation apps or engines, such as Google Translate, to translate medical research articles from one language to another. Why?:

  • Intellectual Property: publishers or authors own the rights to their intellectual property. Therefore, you would need to seek permission to translate their work.
  • Safety & Misinformation: improper and incorrect translations may not only lead to misinformation, but they can also create safety risks and/or lead to harm.

Need an alternative?:

  • Contact the copyright owner--usually the publisher or author(s)--and ask if they have the research documents available in other languages.
