General information about mobile apps and mobile website

Answer

Apps are continuously changing, updating, and upgrading.

Some apps are better than others, we recommend that you read reviews online or on the app store to get a better understanding of the tool before you download it.

Apps vs. Websites

It might be helpful to understand the difference between mobile apps and mobile websites.  Mobile apps also called Apps are downloaded from the App Store on your phone. A Mobile website also called a Mobile 'Friendly' website or an Optimized Website is a normal website which detects the size of your screen and adjusts the layout to make it easier to use.

When you review our Mobile Resources page, you will notice that items are described as Mobile Apps and/or Mobile Websites. Not all resources provide both. For example, NEJM does not have a Mobile App for the journal but does provides a Mobile Friendly website which displays well on any small device. However, NEJM does have several Apps for other products that they sell like Board Prep materials.

*We are not able to test all Apps and Websites for mobile access, if you come across any problems, please let us know so we can work with the vendor on a solution.  For example, Hale's does have a App available for download however (at this time) it cannot be used with our institutional subscription. Please let us know if you encounter any difficulties with access or successes that we can share with other customers.
