The Library Services team is here to serve the needs of Banner Health employees and affiliates (Including Sonora Quest Laboratories). Our staff is available for remote one-on-one consultations or group instruction to help with research, search strategies, resource navigation, article delivery or sharing, citation management, literature searches and other information needs.

Q: How do I access the library from home?

In order to access full text articles from home, you will need to apply for an Open Athens account. The application can be found on our website – Off-site Access

Q: What is an OpenAthens account?

OpenAthens is an authentication system that provides access to multiple online resources with a single username and password. OpenAthens provides access to resources anytime, anywhere, from any device with an internet connection. With OpenAthens, users may also get to online databases, books and journals.

Q: Can I consult with a librarian about research and resources?

Yes; we recommend that you schedule an appointment. Consultations can be conducted over the phone or virtually on your computer.

Q: What if I would like a library overview for my staff?

Use the instruction request form found on library.bannerhealth.com to request a virtual instruction session.

Q: I work with Sonora Quest; do I have access to a specific resource?

Yes, with very few exceptions. Some resources (very few) must be accessed while on Banner Health's network. If you have any questions about a particular resource, please read the file included with this FAQ.  If you still have questions please contact us.

Q: If I need to request a journal article for urgent patient care, can I use the Chat?

Yes, Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM –4:30 PM
